Dr. Susan Waters received her DVM from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. Her interests have always been focused on small animals and exotic pets. Dr. Susan received a Master’s degree studying animal genetics, but decided she prefers a more hands-on approach to animal care and chose to pursue vet school. Baton Rouge is her home and she is so excited to be serving the people and their pets in her hometown! 

History: Dr. Susan got married in January of 2022 and her and her husband, Jared, had their first baby in December of 2022. With the most perfect baby girl in their lives, Dr. Susan wanted to spend as much time at home with her family as she could. A typical clinic job was no longer desirable to Dr. Susan, and the idea of Vet On The Geaux was born! A mobile practice gives Dr. Susan the flexibility to spend time with her family while serving her community daily. 

Philosophy: Dr. Susan believes that pet care should be convenient, affordable, and unique to each pet. With 8 of her own pets, Dr. Susan understands that each pet is unique and comes with their own personality and characteristics. Some pets are anxious in the car, some are aggressive in new surroundings. Cats especially do not enjoy traveling and are often so stressed at the vet that they cannot be adequately examined. Vet On The Geaux allows the specific needs of each and every pet to be distinctly addressed and catered to. If you have an aggressive or anxious pet, a pet that is terrified of new places or car rides, if you cannot physically transport your pet due to their size or health condition, or if you simply prefer a veterinarian to come to your home, I’m the doctor you need!

Values: Vet On The Geaux aims to decrease fear and anxiety in pets. Many pets do much better with veterinary visits in a familiar place, like their home. Without having to travel to the vet, your pet is automatically more relaxed, allowing for better medical care and more positive experience for your pet. Dr. Susan’s goal is to examine and treat every pet and leave them with a happier, less fearful experience!
