- Physical exam – I always start with the basics, a physical exam can easily rule in or rule out certain conditions and ultimately save time and money in diagnostics and treatment. Every animal gets a physical exam at every visit!
- Behavioral therapy – Anxiety? Noise phobia? Car sickness? Fear aggression? Many behavioral conditions can be managed with a combination of training and medications.
- Weight management – Keeping our animals at a healthy weight allows them to live longer and without joint pain. Overweight animals are more at risk for arthritis pain and for many other diseases. Dr. Susan had extensive nutrition training during her time in vet school. Ask Dr. Susan for advice if you are concerned about your pet’s weight.
- Preventative care – I offer a range of preventative products including:
- Canine heartworm prevention: proheart12, Trifexis, Simparica Trio
- Canine flea and tick prevention: Bravecto, Trifexis, Simparica Trio
- Feline flea, tick, and heartworm prevention: Revolution Plus
- Other products can be prescribed.
- Vaccines – Vaccines are vital in your pet’s health care plan. Any pet, cat or dog, is at risk for contracting preventable diseases if they do not receive their vaccines.
- Diagnostics – Diagnostics offered include:
- bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal exams, microscopy
- Acute vomiting/diarrhea – Tummy troubles can be frustrating and leave our pets feeling yucky. Many episodes of acute vomiting and/or diarrhea can be managed at home with a few easy steps.
- Infections – Infections I treat include ears, eyes, skin, urinary tract, and gastrointestinal.
- Allergies – Allergies are common and can be caused by the environment, food, and changing seasons. With a physical exam and assessment, we can work together to determine what type of allergies your pet is suffering from and get them on the best possible therapy.
- Itchy skin – Watching our pets constantly lick and scratch can be frustrating and annoying! I know it breaks my heart when I can see just how itchy my dog gets and she can’t do anything but scratch. Let me help knock the itch out and give your dog back his happy, itch free life!
- Basic eye and ear exams – Think your pet has an eye or ear infection? Worried that your pet is struggling to hear or see? I offer basic eye and ear exams and can refer you to a specialist if your pet is experiencing a chronic or serious condition.
- Chronic disease management – if your pet has been diagnosed with a chronic disease by another veterinarian, I can help you navigate the disease as it changes over time. I can offer continued care for many diseases that are controlled with medication. With blood tests and other diagnostics available, I am able to diagnose many chronic diseases and guide treatment for your pet.
- Minor wound care – I can clean up and bandage minor wounds. I will assess and recommend further diagnostics or treatment if a wound seems extensive.
- Post-surgical care – I offer staple and suture removal, surgical site inspection, pain management, etc. for post-op patients.
- In-home Euthanasia – please call or text us at 225-755-9269 rather than booking online to ensure that your request is seen immediately.
